An Old Favorite Returns After Fire!!!!

The Anchorage in Somers Point is going to reopen on Thursday!!!(Feb. 1) I'll be honest in saying that I'm a Charlie's guy when it comes to bars in Somers Point!! It's nothing personal to the Anchorage, it's just that I have had a lot of fun times at Charlie's. I'm just there more.

Kudos to owner Don Mahoney who promised to have it reopened ASAP. And even though he had to deal with contractors(hee, hee)..did just that. I just might show up Thursday night. It should be a pretty good party. And that's the name of the game in my world!!

Peace!!

AND PARTY ON!!!

Get Stoned At 4:20

3 song set of the Stones at 4:20 everyday.

I'm thinking about putting together a Top 15 list. But it's up to you the listener to vote. Let me know your three favorite Stones tunes.

Either respond to this blog or email me through WZXL.COM

And be honest...START ME UP should not be on your list. It's overplayed and done!!!!

Let me know...and tell your friends.

PEACE!

Ron "Tater Salad" White

Since it's been a while since I blogged on a semi-regular basis, there are some stories I never got to.

Back in the fall I got tickets to see Ron White over at the Tropicana. Out of the Blue Collar Comedy Tour bunch he is without a doubt the funniest. Jeff Foxworthy, other that the "you might be a redneck" stuff...not funny. Bill Engvall......absolutely not funny. Even Larry the Cable Guy's act can feel stale after about a half hour.

Here's what I like in my comedians.

1) Sarcasm...and the more of it the better.

2)a feeling that it's the two of us sitting around and telling funny stories.

3) No "what's the deal with airline peanuts jokes"!!!! Be creative. I paid good money for this.

If you've never seen Ron White's act. You must be living in a cave. Comedy central pretty much puts it on and hits the repeat button once a month.

Ron has all three of the above categories taken care of. And as an added bonus he appaers to be drunk. Which adds a certain class to the festivities. I used to think the"drinking" was an act, but he is starting to really get that "i Drink Too Much look".

The whole show was good. One of the highlights was that there were these two seats right in the middle....empty. It's a sold out show. So about 30 minutes into it. Two people come in and guess where there seats are? Yep, those two seats. Now i don't know about you. But if I had those seats for a comedy show I would not show up late. You're going to be ridiculed. Sure enough they head for the seats. Ron stops what he was talking about......says"Oh! Hey ! Glad you could make it!! Is the anything I can get you?...........LIKE A FUCKING WATCH!!!!" Bang!!! The whole crowd erupts.

Anyway, if you haven't seen his act find one of his DVDs. Sit back and get ready to laugh. I promise you won't be dissappointed.

PEACE!!!

Alright. You can stop with all the e-mails about how I never blog. I promise starting now, and every day there will be something new here. This however is no guarantee...I've said the same thing before.

First topic.....

Dec. 30th I saw the greatest show I have seen in a very long time. Trey Anastasio at the HOUSE OF BLUES. Just a little history. In 1993 I saw a band at the Tower Theater in Philly. That band changed the way i listened to music for the rest of my life. I realized songs don't need to be be packaged in 4 minute bursts. It's OK to let them be free and open and go wherever the music takes it. Sure the Allman Brothers and the Grateful Dead figured that out a long time ago. But this band did it different, some might argue..better. That band was PHISH. I was amazed at this band and quickly embraced it as the greatest music i ever heard. So I saw them twice in 1993 once again in 1995 at the Spectrum. Phish had a huge following that followed them from town to town, but I had neither the resources nor the money to pull that off. I also didn't know anyone to trade tapes with(like the Dead, Phish would allow recording at their shows).

So as the 90's went by my interest in PHISH started to wane. Mainly because I was out of the loop as to what they were up to live. I moved on to Blues Traveler and claimed they were the greatest band in the land. I stuck with that belief for a while. Then around 2001-2002 Hi-speed internet started to come into its' own. Which made downloading music a lot less tedious and time consuming and lo and behold i come across all of these Phish shows. I download a show just to see what I missed out on.....AND MY HEAD EXLPLODED!!! Not only did I miss out...I missed out on the peak of this bands' career. So I turn into this downloading junkie trying to get hold of as many shows as possible.

Flash forward to 2006. Phish has called it quits 2 years before because they knew it just wasn't as good as it was before so why tarnish a great legacy(I can respect that). But I haven't seen them live since 1995 and I'm an addict now!!! Lucky for me Trey is out on the road and coming to A.C.!!!!

My sister in law works at the HOB and gets me primo seats in the balcony front row dead center. Trey comes out on stage starts plaing his guitar and I am once again smiling in enjoyment at a concert. The music is loose, danceable, and just plain fun. Second song of the night was one of my favorite PHISH tunes("STASH") and I almost lose it with happiness. The whole show goes like this and I had a great time.

Sure enough two days later, on the Internet, The show has been posted by one of the tapers!!!

I've never hidden my love for the jam. Some people get it others don't. That's cool. To each his own.

I promise I'll try to write something every day. Maybe nest time I'll talk about how RON WHITE is the funniest comedian on the face of the EARTH.

Til next time!!!

PEACE!!!!
